Anna's Father and Step Mother were Murder at Goodwin Point 8 miles north of Ithaca.  March 20, 1870.  Anna was taken by Ferguson and they were caught the following day. Ferguson was hung at the court house the following year.  Norene Turcsik great-great granddaughter of Anna has compiled most of the newspaper articles (still looking for some) and they are on file at The History Center, Ithaca, NY or from me directly.

Blanche L. Baird

Cortland - Blanche L. Baird, 86 of 5 Sands St. Cortland, died Monday September 17, 1984 at Cortland Memorial Hospital. She was born September 28, 1896 at Peruville, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Townley Baird. She had resided in Cortland since 1926.

Miss Baird was employed as a machine operator at the Newton Line Co. in Cortland for many years before retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Cortland, a 55 year member of the Neolight Rebekah Lodge #32 of Cortland, a treasurer of the Four Score Club of Cortland and a member of both the Cortland and Harford Senior Citizens.

She is survived by three nephews, Elwyn Baird and Norman Baird of Groton, Donald Baird, both of Cortland; two nieces, Mrs. Peter (Sylvia Edwards of Fabius and Mrs. Gary (Virginia) Alexander of Danver, Colo.; eight great-nieces and great-nephews and four great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.

Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden with the Rev. Winston Maricle, pastor of the Second Congregational Church officiating and assisted by the Rev. Edgar Kinner, a cousin of Miss Baird. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial donation may be made to the Second Congregational Church in Cortland.
