Notes for ANNA M. LUNGER: Buried in Cobb St. Cemetery, West Groton, NY 2nd Marriage for Anna Daughter Hattie is from the 1st marriage. Not sure about this information Anna's Father and Step Mother were Murder at Goodwin Point 8 miles north of Ithaca. March 20, 1870. Anna was taken by Ferguson and they were caught the following day. Ferguson was hung at the court house the following year. Norene Turcsik great-great granddaughter of Anna has compiled most of the newspaper articles (still looking for some) and they are on file at The History Center, Ithaca, NY or from me directly.

Blanche L. Baird
Cortland - Blanche L. Baird, 86 of 5 Sands St. Cortland, died Monday September 17, 1984 at Cortland Memorial Hospital. She was born September 28, 1896 at Peruville, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Townley Baird. She had resided in Cortland since 1926.
Miss Baird was employed as a machine operator at the Newton Line Co. in Cortland for many years before retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Cortland, a 55 year member of the Neolight Rebekah Lodge #32 of Cortland, a treasurer of the Four Score Club of Cortland and a member of both the Cortland and Harford Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three nephews, Elwyn Baird and Norman Baird of Groton, Donald Baird, both of Cortland; two nieces, Mrs. Peter (Sylvia Edwards of Fabius and Mrs. Gary (Virginia) Alexander of Danver, Colo.; eight great-nieces and great-nephews and four great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden with the Rev. Winston Maricle, pastor of the Second Congregational Church officiating and assisted by the Rev. Edgar Kinner, a cousin of Miss Baird. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial donation may be made to the Second Congregational Church in Cortland.

Obituary on file at Groton Historical Assoc. 11/11/06 Norman L. Baird 83, of 206 E. Cortland St. Groton, died January 6, 2004 in Cortland Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Born July 9, 1920 in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of Frederick and Ruth Davenport Baird. Having served his country during WW II with the U.S. Amry, he returned to the area and was employed with the Village of Groton, working in various departments for 31 years and retired in 1978. He was a member of the Carrington Fuller Post #800 American Legion and a member of the Conger Company #2 in the Groton Fire Department. Surviving him is his sister-in-law Geraldine Douglass of Cortland: and his nieces, Jennifer Collazo of Cortland and Sarah Vaugn of Oneida: also by his cousin Donald (Charlotte) Baird of Cortland: and several second cousins. His wife Alice Collins, predeceased him in 1991. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Groton Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be mad to the Groton Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund. Zirbel Funeral Home 115 Williams St. Groton has care of arrangements.

Lived at 120 Corona Ave. Groton, NY - A life long resident of Groton, he was a 1941 graduate of Groton High School. He served with the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Baird was employed by Smith Corona in Groton as a methods engineer for 39 years until his retirement in July 1981. He later worked for the First National Bank of Groton as a custodian from 1981 to 1986. An avid golfer, he was instrumental in organizing the annual Adams-Buck Memorial Golf Tournament at the Stonehedges Golf Club, Groton, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Finger Lakes Seniors Golf Association, the Corona Club and Carrington-Fuller American Legion Post 800 of Groton. He is serviced by a cousin Donald Baird of Cortland; and three nephews, Daniel Luce, Larry Luce and David Luce. Services will be Friday at 11:00am at the Zirbel Funeral Home 10 Williams St. Groton, with Rev. James Cavanaugh officiating. Spring interment with full military honors will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Groton Ambulance Fund

Obituary AUGUSTUS SHAFF
ITHACA - Augustus Shaff, 92, of 20 Esty Drive, Ithaca, died Monday, September 25, 2006, at Cayuga Medical Center. Born February 11, 1914 in the Town of Dryden, he was a son of the late Eska and Nellie Beard Shaff, and the husband of the late Lillian Wescott Shaff, who died in 1989. Mr. Shaff had been employed at the Ithaca Gun Company from 1934-1946. After leaving the Ithaca Gun Company, Mr. Shaff went to work at Cornell University in the Bull Barnes from 1946-1958. He also ran Wescotts's Texaco Station located at 1803 East Shore Drive until his retirement. After retirement he worked for the United Way as a custodian and handyman. Mr. Shaff loved his pug dogs and his companion cat dearly. He also worked hard splitting his own firewood up into his 80's. Mr. Shaff is survived by his children, Virginia Joyce Shaff (Richard) Johnson of Ithaca, and Cindy Shaff Pataki of Freeville; grandson, L. Todd Pataki of Freeville; granddaughters, Pattie (Kevin) McClaine and Twyla (Jayme) Goodwin, both of Battle Creek, MI; great-grandchildren, Tim Slack, Tonya Hunsicker, Billie Jo Slack, Myndia Goodwin and Regeinia Goodwin, all of MI; great-great-grandchildren, Bradley, Jack, Johnny, Caleb, Joey, Cameron, Alexis, Brandon, Emily and Kaden, all of MI; sister, Beatrice Shaff Dennis of Ithaca; dear relatives, Lorraine and Gilbert Houston, Robert Riker and the late Helen Riker. In addition to his parents and his wife of 53 years, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Lyndia Mikula; brothers, John, Glenn, Ralph, and Edward Shaff; sisters, Florence Shaff Reeves, Myra Shaff Painter and Mae Shaff.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, at the E.C. Wagner Funeral Home of Ithaca, Rev. Mildred Logan officiating. Friends may call from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
